Welcome to the celebr8 (don't discrimin8) website
The Festival
celebr8 (don't discrimin8) is a calendar of events which celebrates the variety and range or people that live in the North West, and how this benefits us all culturally, socially and economically.
This year's inaugural 'celebr8 on the Silver Screen' film competition has helped make 2008 the biggest festival yet, incorporating more than 20 events and, in total, communicating with over 5.2 million people in the region.
celebr8 on the Silver Screen invited Scriptwriters from across the North West to have their ideas on diversity turned into films and shown at cinemas across the region. More information about each of the winners and the films can be found at http://uk.youtube.com/celebr8NW
celebr8 (don't discrimin8) 2008 also saw the release of results from the first North West Attitudes to Equality and Diversity Survey undertaken as part of the festival.
The first celebr8 Business Pledge has been launched throughout the region featuring a set of goals designed to encourage businesses to support equality and diversity in the workplace, as well as involvement in the NHS North West's celebration of its BME employees as it reaches its 60th anniversary.
A number of additional events and projects have been arranged to coincide with the celebr8 festival, ranging from a launch event for Blackpool's new hate crime reporting system, to an inclusive sports adventure week for disabled and able bodied children in Merseyside, and the Diversity in the Lakes conference in Cumbria.
